What does healthy skin truly look like, and how can you achieve it?
Even skin tone is a marker for healthy skin – but there is more to healthy skin than meets the eye. To measure the overall health of your skin, it is important to look at the obvious signs, like redness, as well as deeper issues like sun damage.
Often, redness is an indicator of dry skin or rosacea, combined with skin sensitivity. While many people think that sensitive skin is something they are born with, a lot of the time it is simply a symptom of dry skin. Sun damage, on the other hand, is not always visible to the naked eye. Special tools – like a Wood’s Lamp – are needed to reveal the extent of sun damage.
Creams are rarely effective enough to resolve uneven skin tone on their own. An IPL PhotoFacial, on the other hand, can achieve even skin tone in just 2-4 treatments. Plus, an IPL PhotoFacial will also lift up dryness on the skin, which in turn will help to decrease redness and also sensitivity. At Pure Light Laser we use the Palomar Starlux 500 (pictured above) for IPL PhotoFacial treatments. Unlike many laser treatments, which leave skin severely bruised or scabbed, there is little down time after an IPL Photofacial.
Once you have achieved even skin tone, the only thing you will need to add to your skin regime is an exfoliation product containing AHA Glycolic or a Vitamin C serum. Regular Microdermabrasion treatments can also be helpful, because they remove dead skin.
If you follow the steps to resolve dryness and other skin issues, your skin will be set to achieve a healthy glow. IPL PhotoFacials are appropriate for even the most sensitive skin.
